Occupation: Head Chef/Kitchen Manager at the Back Porch Pizza Bar in Mount Dora
What I do: I’m responsible for creating new recipes, making sure food is going out properly, managing the kitchen and the other chefs. Of course, I must follow a budget and make sure the guests have the best possible experience!
My inspiration: My Italian family is from New Jersey, and we couldn’t find a good pizza in this area. So, in 2019 we decided to open our own place and I dedicated all my time to learning the art of making pizza and helping them run the family business. I fell in love!
Why pizza is my passion: I grew up cooking with my Italian family and I truly believe that food is the way to anyone’s heart and soul. To be able to watch my food put smiles on customers faces warms my heart and brings me joy.
Notable achievement: My biggest accomplishment is being able to work for such an amazing company where I have the freedom to express myself with my food. Our success has made me very proud.
Words of wisdom: Before I got into this career, I was a dog groomer, and I hated it, so my advice would be to get out of your comfort zone and find what makes you happy. It turned into the most beautiful life decision I have ever made.
In my spare time: I love cooking at home as well as kayaking, going to the beach and anything outdoors! I also believe in supporting other restaurants in the Mount Dora area and trying new food!
Life after 40: I see myself still cooking and putting out plates that everyone can enjoy. Maybe by then I will have my own place.
