Tyler Borowski, 31

Occupation: Executive Director, Business and Tax Services for David W. Jordan, Lake County Tax Collector, Tavares

What I do: I oversee the day-to-day operations of the tax department, manage the annual tax roll process, organize wide service improvement projects and assist with public records and data analytics.

How I got here: I started my professional career in 2013 in healthcare administration while continuing my college education. In 2019, I received the opportunity to join David Jordan’s team at the tax collector’s office. 

Why it’s my passion: Our role is unique in that everyone who calls Lake County home must come and see us at some point. We are challenged with making government less bureaucratic and we are more about serving our people.

Notable achievement: Achieving the public management certification from Florida State University. 

Words of wisdom: Be patient. If it’s not your day today or tomorrow, your time will come. Be persistent and stay humble. Give thanks and remember the opportunities and lessons along the way.

Outside the office: Any chance I get, I’m out on the water.

Life after 40: I hope to further develop my leadership skills at the tax collector’s office and seek out opportunities to grow professionally and serve my community. I’d also like to continue to travel, find the best restaurants around the world, read more and worry less!
