City of Groveland Breaks Ground on New Empowerment Center
The City of Groveland is proud to announce the groundbreaking in celebration of the Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center took place Thursday, June 13 at 824 E. Broad Street, Groveland, FL. This initiative is made possible by a generous grant from the Live Well Foundation of South Lake, recognizing the critical impact of programs developed by Anointed Community Services Int’l in collaboration with the City of Groveland.
The Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center is designed to be a beacon of hope and a hub of resources for the community, offering enhanced educational programs and new vocational training opportunities. These programs aim to empower residents by providing the tools and skills needed to achieve their full potential and improve their economic prospects.
“This center represents a significant step forward in our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Groveland residents,” said Groveland Mayor Evelyn Wilson. “We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our community.”
Key features of the Empowerment Center include:
· Enhanced ESOL Program: Expanding our current English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) offerings to better serve the community.
· Vocational Training: Introducing new programs to equip unemployed residents with the skills needed for better wage-earning jobs.
· Comprehensive Support Services: Continuing and expanding all programs and services currently offered at the existing Elese Tomlin Community Center, with a focus on community growth and empowerment.
“We are immensely grateful to the Live Well Foundation for their support and recognition of our programs’ importance,” said Dr. Linda Cowels, CEO of Anointed Community Services International. “The Elese Tomlin Empowerment Center will be a transformative space for Groveland residents.”
The current Elese Tomlin Center provides free after school programs, summer activities and vocational enrichment, a Women’s Ignite Network, a Veterans and Seniors Enrichment program, ESOL classes and a GED preparation class.
The community joined in celebrating the groundbreaking of this incredible initiative, which promises to bring growth and prosperity to Groveland. A grand opening ceremony will be announced when the project is complete, offering a chance for residents to tour the facility and learn more about the programs and services available.
