Eustis High School Plans New Addition: Will Welcome 9th Graders
Eustis High School will begin sending 9th graders to the high school campus in the coming years. Renovation plans intend to add an addition to the high school so that 9th graders who currently learn at the Eustis Curtright Campus will be able to study with 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who are part of the main high school.
The Curtright campus dates back to 1925 when a school was established to educate African Americans during the era of segragation. The campus later closed when Eustis High School integrated, however it was returned to service in 2000 to educate ninth grade students to relieve overcrowding on the main Eustis High School campus. While we don’t have full plans yet we know the plan is on the radar.
We had the chance to talk with Executive Director of Facilities & Growth Planning, Kelly Randall, about the upcoming renovations in the next few years at Eustis High School.
“The next two or three years is an estimate, but we intend to build an addition to Eustis High School so that the 9th graders are able to attend the main high school. Once the addition to Eustis High School is complete, all four grades, 9th-12th, will be under the same roof. We would evaluate future plans for the Curtright Campus and what the best use of the building is once those students move to Eustis High School in the coming years,” says Randall.
This is a very positive step for Eustis High School, as the Curtright Campus is located about a mile from the main Eustis High School campus. This new structure will ultimately allow the entire student body to learn under one roof, which will be a very positive change.
While details are still being worked out, we will continue to monitor Lake County Schools’ social media and website for further information on these exciting new plans coming to Eustis High School.
