Tavares High School has welcomed their new principal for the 2024/2025 school year. Dr. Stacy Keaveny is transitioning from an assistant principal role at East Ridge High School. She is very much looking forward to her future as Tavares’ next principal.

“I am honored and excited to join the Tavares High School team,” Principal Keaveny says. “Together, we will foster an environment where every student can excel academically, grow personally, and prepare for a successful future.”

According to a press release by Lake County Superintendent Diane Kornegay, Dr. Keaveny began her educational career in Osceola County in 2001 as a school counselor after several years of working as a civilian with the US Air Force’s family support centers and social service programs within the state of Florida.

After three years working at the middle and elementary school levels, including the opening of Pine Ridge Elementary, Dr. Keaveny pursued the opportunity to work with young adults at East Ridge High School.

Starting as a school counselor and then moving into administration in 2015, Dr. Keaveny served East Ridge High for nearly 20 years. Dr. Keaveny’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Liberty University, a Master of Arts in School and Mental Health Counseling from Webster University, and a Doctorate in Philosophy in Educational Administration from Capella University.

Principal Keaveny replaces Tavares Principal Jacob Stein, who has been in education for over 20 years. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Tavares High School has some very exciting things happening. Not only does the school have a new principal, but the athletics and academic programs are flourishing. It is a very exciting time for Tavares High School. We want to welcome Dr. Stacy Keaveny to the program and we look forward to seeing what she can accomplish.
