Mount Dora High Football Player Trent Sims Commits To Mississippi Valley State University

Congratulations to Mount Dora High School football player Trent Sims, who has committed to Mississippi Valley State University to continue his academic and football career.

Sims is one of the best long snappers in all of Florida. The MVSU Devils are an NCAA FCS program and play in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

Sims could always be relied upon in special teams situations. He rarely, if ever, missed a long snap to the punter or kicker. He originally committed to St. Thomas University for football and now has the opportunity to snap at one of college football’s highest levels.

“I’m beyond blessed to announce my commitment to play Division 1 ball at Mississippi Valley State University. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here,” says Sims.

Trent Sims is 6’3” and 200 lbs. He has a 3.67 GPA and credits his faith in God for getting him to where he is. With a 0.68-second snap speed, Sims will be fun to watch over the next few years. Some NFL talents have made a career out of long snapping, including Morgan Cox of the Tennessee Titans, Tyler Ott of the Baltimore Ravens, and Joe Cardona of the New England Patriots, to name a few.

Trent Sims carries a lot of speed down the field, and we can absolutely see why this young man has earned an opportunity at the FCS level in college football. He also played baseball for Mount Dora High.

Congratulations to Trent Sims, his family, coaches, friends, and everyone who has had an impact on this young man’s life. We look forward to seeing what he does at Mississippi Valley State in 2024!
