Free School Supplies Available at Back-to-School Events Across the County

Several community back-to-school giveaway events are planned for this weekend across Lake County. Here are the details:

Clermont

One in Christ Ministries is planning a Back-to-School Bash from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at 2220 Cluster Oak Drive in Clermont. Participants can expect free school supplies, giveaways, food, music, activities, vendors, a fire truck experience and a visit from Clermont Police Chief Broadway. For information, call 352-504-4626

Groveland

The City of Groveland is hosting a Back 2 School Backpack Bash starting at 10 a.m. and continuing while supplies last on Saturday, July 27, at Nathaniel Community Gymnasium at Hope International Church, 1306 State Road 33 in Groveland. One backpack will be given to each student participant in kindergarten through 8th grade. An adult and child must be present to receive supplies. Vendors, a Kids Zone and free ice cream will be available as well. For information, call the city’s Parks and Recreation Department at 352-429-2141 or email parks-rec@groveland-fl.gov

Minneola

Faith Outreach Ministry is offering free meals, school supplies, blood pressure checks and other giveaways at their Community Outreach event from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27 at 905 Jan-Mar CT B in Minneola. For information, call 407-632-3135 or email cogopfaithoutreachinistry@gmail.com

Tavares

Lake County Sheriff’s Office Charities has partnered with the Tavares Police Department, Tavares Public Library and several churches to offer a Backpack Bash from 10 a.m. until the backpacks run out on Saturday, July 27 at Tavares High School, 603 N. New Hampshire Ave. in Tavares. They will offer backpacks and school supplies for all grade levels along with free lunch and haircuts. For information, contact Kristin Thompson at 352-267-3029.

Wildwood

The City of Wildwood has partnered with local churches to sponsor a Back 2 School Collaborative Community Extravaganza from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 600 Walker Road in Wildwood. Participants can expect free backpacks and school supplies, free kids’ hair cuts, a live DJ, foam machine, face painting, waterslides, sports and more.
