Macey Campbell who contributed heavily to Leesburg High’s trumendous girls basketball season earlier this year which saw the Yellow Jackets make the Regional Finals was feeling the love on Tuesday. The West Leesburg Community Development Corporation Granted Campbell a scholarship as she begins her college career to be a registered nurse. She will be taking courses at Valencia College and UCF. Also receiving a college scholarship was Kanye Gaines who is headed to college in Kansas for Football.

(Macey Campbell stands with Fred Griffin Jr. along with her scholarship for $1,000.)

In attendance was Fred Griffin Jr. who seems to be everywhere these days. We appreciate what Fred does for the community. He presented Macey with the check for an undisclosed amount. Macey was very appreciative of the kind gestured. Her mother Tangela Campbell was also there. Macey is the daughter of Leesburg High basketball coach Sean Campbell.

She played in 16 games as the only senior on the Leesburg High roster. She contributed 2.6 points per game, 1.3 rebounds per game and helped Leesburg to a 24-2 record for the girls program which was one of the best records in school history. The only thing missing was a State Championship.

We are so happy for Macey Campbell and we wish her the best of luck in College!
