The Lady Lake Library recently wrapped up its successful “School Supplies for Fines” program, donating over 800 essential school items to The Villages Elementary of Lady Lake. The donated items, which include backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and more, represent a value of $800 in forgiven library fines. This initiative, now in its second annual run, provides a unique opportunity for library patrons to settle their fines while giving back to the community.

The donations, collected from the community, come just in time for the first day of school on August 12. The timing of these contributions ensures that students at The Villages Elementary are well-equipped as they embark on a new academic year.

The program’s success highlights the community’s commitment to supporting local education and providing resources for students in need.

In a gesture of appreciation, Lady Lake Library Youth Services Assistant Kourtney Fehr and The Villages Elementary of Lady Lake Principal Gregg Dudley were on hand to oversee the donation’s handover.

The “School Supplies for Fines” program continues to serve as a win-win initiative, benefiting both the library and the young students of Lady Lake.
