Brady Singer, a proud graduate of Eustis High School in Florida, is putting together quite the year for the Kansas City Royals. Singer has had a big impact during the summer months, helping the Royals who remain in a tie for first place in the American League Central Division. With both the Royals and the Cleveland Guardians sitting at 75 wins, Singer’s performance on the mound has been crucial, While August has been an up and down month for Singer, he’s doing all he can to help the Royals make the playoffs.

Singer, who was a standout pitcher in Eustis, has compiled a 9-9 record with a 3.38 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 178 innings this year. The 27-year-old right-hander’s journey from Eustis High to the major leagues has been a joy to watch over the past few years.

In his hometown of Eustis, Singer’s success is a point of pride. His former coaches and teachers often speak of his work ethic and leadership qualities, traits that have translated well to his professional career. People often talk about Brady but also Kerry Carpenter who also plays in the MLB for the Detroit Tigers. Eustis has been a hot bed for MLB talent over the years.

Singer took to the mound this week against the Astros throwing 6 innings giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs. He also had 6 strikeouts in the contest although after being taken out of the game the relief pitchers could not seal the deal and the Royals lost 6-3.

Singer’s journey from the fields of Eustis to the bright lights of Major League Baseball is an inspiring story. Anytime we have athletes from Lake or Sumter County make it to the big leagues is a big accomplishment. Singer continues to show year after year why he’s at the top.

Kansas City is one of the favorites to make a run at the World Series this year along with the Yankees, Orioles and Guardians in the American League. As we head into September it’s going to be a heck of a finsh to the regular season.
