Critically Injured Lake County Deputy Stefano Gargano Released from Hospital
Deputy Stefano Gargano, who sustained critical injuries in an ambush attack earlier this month, was discharged from HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital on Monday, according to official reports. Gargano, one of three deputies shot during the incident, is now on the road to recovery.
The shooting occurred on the evening of August 2, when deputies were called to the area of County Road 439, near Brookside Drive, north of State Road 44. Deputy Gargano suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen and under his arm while responding to the call.
Master Deputy Bradley Michael Link, 28, tragically lost his life due to injuries sustained during the same attack. Another deputy, 41-year-old Master Deputy Harold Howell, was shot in the shoulder and released from the hospital on August 6.
Sheriff Peyton Grinnell and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office extend their gratitude to the community for their ongoing support and prayers during this difficult time.
