Clermont, Fla. — Competing against some of the fastest swimmers in Florida, the Lake Minneola High School (LMHS) boys swim team captured second place, while the girls team placed fifth, in a highly competitive field at the 4A Region 2 Championships this past weekend. With 18 teams in the regional meet, LMHS swimmers showcased impressive performances and secured spots in the 4A State Championship meet scheduled for this upcoming Saturday.

(This group of Lake Minneola High Swimmers are having a great season. Just recently the Boys and Girls team finished 1st and 2nd at the Florida Mid-Conference Meet in Ocala.)

Advancing to the state meet are standout swimmers Lyla Conte, Collin Magnus, Henry Carlisle, Eric Jurski, Evan Stires, and Kai Larkin, all of whom turned in qualifying times at the regionals to represent the Hawks at the state level. Additionally, the girls 400-meter freestyle relay team — consisting of Sidney Stromberg, Liv Klein, Finley Budds, and Lyla Conte — was named an alternate for the event. Very exciting for this group of swimmers who have excelled this year.

The Hawks have really pushed themselves this season. To come out second in the boys’ category and fifth in the girls’ against such talented competition is a huge achievement. The team is ready to swim at the Regional Championships! We wish them all the best of luck as they go after it this weekend! Go Hawks!
