MOUNT DORA, FL – Mount Dora High School wide receiver Tanner Waring has taken the next step in his athletic and academic journey, announcing signing his college commitment to Davidson College. The Hurricanes’ standout receiver has been a game-changer on the field and helped Mount Dora High to their first FHSAA Playoff game in over a decade.

Waring tallied eight touchdowns this season—six via receptions and one rushing—while hauling in 1,891 career yards and 23 touchdowns during his carerer. His ability to consistently stretch the field and deliver in critical moments made him one of the best wide outs to come through Mount Dora High in decades.

“Tanner has worked incredibly hard and has been a key player for us,” said Hurricanes head coach Luke Hutchinson. “His dedication on and off the field has been outstanding. Davidson is getting a special player and an exceptional young man.”

A leader on and off the field, Waring pairs his athletic achievements with academic excellence. With a 4.7 weighted GPA and a 4.0 state GPA, he exemplifies what being a student-athlete is all about.

“Any college or university would be fortunate to have Tanner,” added Hutchinson during an interview earlier this season. “He’s an amazing young man who is going to do great things in football and beyond.”

Waring’s commitment to Davidson College signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his life. Davidson College is part of the FCS which is a level below the FBS. We are so excited for him!

Congratulations to Tanner, his family, friends, coaches, mentors and everyone who has helped him reach this milestone!
