Chandler Holt, 30

Occupation: Owner/General Contractor of Holt House Construction

What I do: I oversee all business financials and day-to-day management, manage all subcontractor relations and scheduling, create and manage all project build schedules, maintain client relations from leads to final project walks, estimating and construction plan advising, bidding and multi-county permitting management… among other things.

How I got my start: My career started in custom cabinetry and millwork for my father-in-law’s family-owned business, Munz Design, in 2017.

I’m passionate about building because: I thoroughly enjoy working with my hands and seeing a project come from the planning stage to fruition. I have been fortunate enough to grow, step by step, within this line of work, which has given me the ability to become a well-rounded project manager. God has blessed us with this business and has allowed me to provide an honest living for my family through it. It’s also allowed my wife, Brianne, and I to work together on something we share a passion for. That’s the cherry on top!

My biggest professional accomplishment: Becoming a licensed state contractor and starting my own company. The relationships I’ve built with my trades is also one of the best parts of my professional career.

When I’m not building houses: I love to go boating in the local Florida waterways with the family and going deep sea fishing and waterfowl hunting are some of my other favorite things.

My first job: Unofficially, I built a lot of fences with dad before I was even old enough to hold a pair of post hole diggers, but officially being a cowboy was my first paid job. Breaking horses and working cows was my first love.

My local mentors: Dean Carter and Bryan Summers are two local mentors of mine. Dean gave me my start in residential construction and Bryan runs multiple successful businesses. Both have supported my growth in this industry in many ways.

The best advice I’ve received: Keep God at the center.

Fun fact: I was the only one who could carry on my family name until we were blessed with my son, Michael Beckham Holt.

If I had a million dollars to give: It would go to Family Church Sumter, the church that we’ve attended since their opening several years ago. I would build them a permanent place to call home.

Life after 40: More of this. Growth, stability and an established quality reputation that precedes our company. More giving as God leads and continued time with my young family as the shared moments and memories with them are the best of my life.
