When Brook McKelvey and her significant other, Anthony Torri, opened Embellished Salon in 2016, they envisioned a place that would go beyond offering beauty services. “We want to be your one-stop shop for everything beauty,” Brook shares, her passion evident as she describes the salon’s mission to create a welcoming, homey atmosphere where customers feel at ease, no matter their day.

Now, nine years later, Embellished Salon has blossomed into a bustling beauty destination. Located in a charming building that once housed a 1950s grocery store, the 6,000-square-foot salon features 20 chairs for hairstyling, three nail techs, a massage therapist, a permanent makeup room and 14 suites hosting a range of services—from hair and skincare to Botox and fillers. It’s a thriving hub for self-care.

What sets Embellished Salon apart is its commitment to fostering a positive environment for both its clients and its team of nearly 40 professionals. 

“In the beauty industry, things can get kind of catty, but I work hard to stop that before it starts,” Brook explains. “My goal has always been to create a family-like environment where everyone works together and supports each other, and we have a really good group here.”

This emphasis on harmony extends to customers, who consistently praise the salon’s friendly vibe. “If your employees are happy, your customers are happy; simple as that,” Brook says. “I decided that if I was going to open a salon, I was going to create an environment free of toxicity and that people actually wanted to come spend time in, relax and feel peaceful at.”

Embellished Salon is also poised for growth. Within the next three months, Brook and Anthony will open a second location in Lady Lake near Target, focusing on skincare and hair services. A third location in Sumter County is set to follow later this year, with talks already underway for a possible fourth in Clermont.

These expansions reflect Brook’s dedication to meeting the community’s growing demand for quality beauty services. They also create new opportunities for stylists. “I want to help the girls grow from commission stylists to independent booth renters running their own businesses,” she says.
