Eustis Set to Break World Record for People Wearing Tricorn Hats

The City of Eustis is excited to announce a world record attempt during this year’s Georgefest Parade on February 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. As part of the festival’s “Out of This World” theme, the city will attempt to break the current record for the largest gathering of people wearing tricorn hats, a title held by The George Washington University, set in 2020.
This world record attempt will be an exciting highlight of the festival, as thousands of participants don their tricorn hats and join the parade in this one-of-a-kind celebration of history and fun. With the theme “Out of This World” guiding this year’s festivities, breaking a world record is the perfect way to make this year’s celebration feel truly extraordinary and memorable for all involved.
The Eustis High School Baseball Team, led by Coach Tony Thomas, will volunteer their time to help us achieve this record-breaking moment. They will be on hand to distribute tricorn hats and hype up the crowd from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., ensuring the energy is high and the excitement is contagious as the parade gets underway.
Tricorn hats will be handed out at the parade itself, so there is no need for registration. Simply show up and get your hat to participate in the world record attempt!
“Georgefest is always an exciting time for Eustis, and this year, we’re taking it to the next level,”said Miranda Muir, City of Eustis Events and Communications Director. “Not only are we celebrating the history of George Washington and the spirit of community, but we’re doing it in a way that’s truly out of this world. Breaking this world record will be a thrilling and unforgettable moment for everyone involved.”
The tricorn hat, a symbol of the 18th century, was worn by soldiers, sailors, and civilians during the time of George Washington. Its distinctive three-cornered design has remained a lasting emblem of America’s revolutionary spirit. This year, the City of Eustis invites residents and visitors to join the parade, wear their tricorn hats, and be a part of this out-of-this-world experience.
The Georgefest Parade, starting at 10:00 AM on February 22, will feature vibrant floats, live entertainment, and more, as the parade makes it into downtown. The parade will follow its traditional route through downtown Eustis, where thousands of hat-wearers will gather to make history.
