Q: What is the difference between an update and a full renovation?
A: An update follows the original floor plan and is generally completed in just a few days. Quotes for updates are usually given on the day of initial inspection. A renovation is more involved because it includes changes to the layout. An example is changing a galley kitchen to open concept, which requires moving the location of refrigerators, ovens and sinks. A bathroom renovation could be opening an enclosed shower to Roman style, which changes the bathroom layout. Renovations normally involve new flooring, drywall, texture, paint, and moving or adding electrical and plumbing. A full renovation typically requires a cad design and in some cases, permitting.

Q: How long will it take to complete?
A: Kitchen cabinets, tub-to-shower conversions and shower updates take 3 to 5 days. Full bathroom or kitchen renovations take 1 to 3 weeks.
Q: When should I update my shower?
A: Don’t wait until the tiles are popping off the walls. Missing grout and drywall damage due to water leakage are all signs an update is needed. A common mistake as we age is waiting too long to make your shower handicap accessible for yourself and loved ones. Get rid of tubs and high step-over curbs. Add shower seating and grab bars.

Q: What will it cost?
A: It’s important for the homeowner to have a budget. Know your maximum spending limit and be honest. It’s okay to have a dream price. Companies like ours want to please their clients first and should be honest and upfront on all costs. Estimates are not generally given over the phone until the project can be seen and measured. Not all materials have the same durability and warranty, so make sure you’re comparing apples to apples when receiving bids from contractors.
Q: Do you give Veteran discounts?
A: Yes, we offer a 5 percent discount. We also encourage veterans to check with the VA. The HISA grant is available for those who qualify based on the level of disability and it doesn’t have to be combat related. This grant provides up to $6,800 towards a low-step shower.
