Villages Charter Senior Kyle Staun Named Student-Athlete of the Week With 4.02 GPA

VILLAGES, Fla. – Hard work and dedication will often get you noticed in high school athletics, and for Villages Charter School senior Kyle Staun, his efforts both on and off the court have earned him the title of Student-Athlete of the Week.
Staun, a student in the school’s Fitness & Coaching Academy, maintains an impressive 4.02 GPA while balancing his commitment to the Buffalo varsity basketball team. His aspirations extend beyond high school as he plans to pursue a degree in Business or Finance while continuing his basketball career at the collegiate level.

Reflecting on his time with the program, Staun recently expressed gratitude for the memories made with his teammates and the guidance received from his coaches. Among his fondest recollections is the team’s trip to the Section 7 Live Period Tournament in Arizona in 2024, an experience he describes as a highlight of his high school career. Staun was also part of The Villages deep 2025 playoff run that included a trip to the FHSAA State Finals against Calvary Christian Academy finishing as state runner-up.
Staun’s journey to the varsity squad was marked by dominance at the junior varsity level, where he played a key role in the 2023 JV team’s outstanding 16-2 record. Though he did not start most games in his senior season, he became a fan favorite, drawing some of the loudest cheers when he entered the game and put points on the board. His impact was reminiscent of past Villages graduates such as Caleb Bevis and Liam Carey, known for their relentless work ethic they put in to get playing time.

A true team player, Staun was also a vital member of the practice squad, helping The Villages prepare for key matchups throughout the season, including their run to the FHSAA State Finals. While the efforts of practice players often go unnoticed by the public, coaches and teammates recognize their essential role in simulating opposing teams and elevating overall team performance. Because of players like Kyle Staun, The Villages thrived this season.
Staun’s dedication, both in games and behind the scenes has not gone unnoticed. His work ethic serves as an inspiration for younger players looking to make their mark in the program in the coming years. As he prepares for the next chapter of his academic and athletic career, Staun leaves behind a legacy of commitment, resilience, and team-first mentality. We enjoyed watching every moment of his career and wish him the best of luck on his future endeavors.
