Leesburg High Softball Catcher Cassidy Custer Dominates in Breakout Senior Season

Leesburg, FL – One of the most electrifying softball players in Lake County this season has been Cassidy Custer, a senior catcher for Leesburg High School who is putting together an eye-popping offensive campaign. Custer has been nothing short of sensational at the plate, batting an incredible .750 through 11 games played.

In 32 at-bats, she has recorded 24 hits, driven in 22 runs, and crossed the plate 29 times. Her offensive arsenal includes nine doubles and three triples.

Custer’s dominance at the plate has made her a name to watch, even for those who may not have heard of her before this season. With her breakout performance, she has emerged as one of the premier catchers in the region.

Her stellar play especially during the travel ball season earned her a spot at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where she committed earlier this year to continue her softball and academic career.

Leesburg High School head coach Prescott praised Custer’s dedication and skill. “Cassidy is one of those players who leads by example and puts in the extra work when no one is watching,” Prescott said. “She’s got a rocket for an arm and a real feel for the game. MATC is getting a competitor who will make an immediate impact. We love having Cassidy on our team.”

Cassidy has not been the only player on Leesburg having a big year. Freshman Rachel Chiles has contributed in a big way with a .708 average in 11 games played. She has taken 24 at bats and has 17 hits, 15 RBI’s and 21 runs scored. She also has four doubles. Haley Larson, Brianna Tozer, Kennadi Williams and Addison Hunter have also contributed heavily in the teams early success.

Leesburg High currently sits at 10-1 on the season. Big games are on the horizon though. This week they will be challenged by Umatilla High and Tavares High which will certainly test this squad.
