KEY WEST, Fla. — The Eustis High School softball team continued its dominance, extending Lake County’s longest active winning streak to 18 games with back-to-back victories over Key West High School during a spring break road trip. The 18 wins is actually tied with Montverde Academy who also have won 18 games in a row dating back to last year. It leaves us wondering which team will lose a game first? But the way these teams are playing, will they lose? At this point the two school’s have combined for 36 wins in a row. That is incredible.

(Emery Luke and Kendall Kemp hit home runs in the 9-7 win last night in Key West.)

The Lady Panthers (9-0) opened the series with Key West High School with a commanding 4-0 win on Wednesday night before edging out the Conchs in a 9-7 thriller on Thursday. Home runs from Emery Luke and Kendall Kemp powered Eustis in the high-scoring affair, securing another hard-fought victory for first-year head coach Tyra Bowers.

Bowers, who took over the program from Brittany Beall—now the head coach at Florida A&M University—has seamlessly continued the Panthers’ winning tradition. The streak, which dates back to April 19th of last season continues. The last team Eustis lost to just so happens to be Montverde Academy who also have an active 18-game win streak. It’s incredible just how dominant both programs have been in recent years with both winning the state championship in their respective classes last season. Montverde and Eustis will play against one another April 9th at Eustis at 7:00 P.M.
