THE VILLAGES, Fla. — While most high school athletes juggle practice and academics, Villages Charter senior Camryn Waters takes it a step further—balancing a championship-winning water skiing career with her school’s flag football team and academics. Safe to say, Waters is a very busy senior.

Fresh off a third-place finish at the prestigious Moomba Masters in Australia, Waters barely had time to shake off the jet lag before stepping onto the field for her Senior Night flag-football game against the North Marion Colts. Waters would get plenty of playing time in the game along with five other seniors who had big nights including Zion McRae, Jessica Durbano, Kaitlin Rich, Amy Raley and Emma Spell.

(Camryn is a great young woman. She has received a full scholarship to University of Louisiana Lafayette for Water Skiing.)

“I just have so much fun water skiing—it’s a passion of mine,” Waters said. “But to make it home and get to play with my teammates meant a lot to me, especially to have my parents here. We are all ready for some rest, but I enjoy every moment of it.”

Her whirlwind schedule is nothing new. Waters also recently claimed the No. 1 spot in the nation for girls water ski-jump and finished fifth at the Under-17 World Water Skiing Championships in Calgary, Canada. Her dominance on the water has earned her a full-ride scholarship to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she plans to study Kinesiology before pursuing a Master’s in Occupational Therapy—all while continuing to compete in professional water skiing events.

With a 3.9 GPA, Waters exemplifies the balance between academics and elite athletics. Whether launching off a water ski ramp or sprinting down the flag football field, she proves that dedication and passion know no limits. We are very proud of her and can’t wait to see her continue her academic and professional water skiing career. Go Camryn!
