The City of Eustis commemorated a historic milestone as Eustis Elementary School celebrated its 100th anniversary on Saturday, March 22.. Mayor Willie Hawkins presented an official proclamation, recognizing the day as “Eustis Elementary’s 100th Birthday,” honoring the school’s century-long impact on education and the community.

 The centennial celebration, held on the Eustis Elementary campus, brought together past and present students, faculty, staff, and community members to reflect on the school’s rich history and bright future. Attendees enjoyed a day filled with festivities, including historical displays, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to reconnect with former classmates and teachers.

“Eustis Elementary has been a cornerstone of education in our city for a century, shaping generations of students and providing an outstanding foundation for lifelong learning,” Mayor Hawkins says. “It was incredible to see the community come together to celebrate this remarkable milestone.”

Since its opening in 1925, Eustis Elementary has played a vital role in the community, evolving to meet the changing needs of its students. The school has grown from a small schoolhouse to an institution that now serves approximately 450 students from Pre-K through 5th grade. Key milestones in the school’s history include the introduction of Kindergarten in 1968 and the integration of Title One funding in the 1970s, which brought advanced educational tools into the classroom. 

The 100th-anniversary event featured a reading of the official proclamation by Mayor Hawkins, historical displays showcasing the school’s past century, activities for families, and opportunities for alumni and former staff to reunite. The event highlighted the deep connection between Eustis Elementary and the community, reinforcing its legacy as a foundation for learning and growth.
