Mount Dora High’s Hurricane Boosters Raise $120K for Athletics Program

MOUNT DORA, Fla. — It was a fantastic school year for the Mount Dora High Hurricanes, both on and off the field, as the school experienced tremendous athletic success — and the Hurricane Boosters at Mount Dora High School raised a staggering $120,000 to support the school’s athletic programs for the 2024–2025 school year.

The impressive fundraising total is the result of widespread community backing, with parents, coaches, and local supporters coming together in a show of Hurricane pride. The funds will go directly toward enhancing student-athlete experiences by covering costs for equipment, uniforms, travel, and other essential needs.

(A check was presented to the Mount Dora High School Athletics programs for $120,000 dollars. We are so proud of everyone for making this happen.)

“This is a huge win for all our teams, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from our community,” said a spokesperson for the Hurricane Boosters. “Every dollar makes a difference, and this kind of support fuels the success of our student-athletes on and off the field.”

This past season, the Mount Dora High Hurricanes football program returned to the FHSAA State Playoffs, and the baseball and softball teams also qualified for the FHSAA Playoffs. The volleyball team advanced to the regional semifinals. Mount Dora also set multiple records in its Track & Field and Cross-Country programs. Overall, it could not have been a better year.

With the new school year just around the corner, MDHS teams will enter their seasons with a stronger foundation — and a community that’s clearly all-in. We are proud to have such wonderful booster programs supporting our local schools. You are all amazing and have helped Lake & Sumter County schools continue to thrive, providing valuable opportunities to the area’s youth. Amazing job by everyone involved!
