Congratulations to Montverde Academy senior Mirea Thederahn, who has committed to Eastern Illinois University. Mirea is originally from Germany and is currently studying at Montverde Academy. Lake County has become her home away from home. She is one of the kindest people you will meet, her smile is contagious, and her competitive spirit is second to none.

(Mirea is very talented. She began playing volleyball in 2020. Since then she has become among the top players in Lake County.)

Standing at 6’0″ with a standing reach of 91 inches, Mirea didn’t start playing volleyball until 2020. In just five years, she has become one of the top volleyball talents in all of Florida.

“Since I started playing volleyball in 2020, it has been my passion,” says Mirea. “I thrive on pushing my limits, whether it’s improving my skills, increasing my endurance, or building team chemistry.”

Mirea is coming off a standout junior year in which she recorded 149 kill shots, 39 aces, and a 91.3% serve rate. She also totaled 15 blocks, 119 digs, and 247 returned serves. A versatile athlete, she plays all over the court—including as an outside hitter, right-side hitter, and middle blocker. She was named to the Lake & Sumter County All-County First Team last season.

“Every challenge on the court motivates me to become better, and I am excited to bring that same energy and commitment to every opportunity I have,” Mirea added.

In addition to her indoor game, Mirea is also a talented beach volleyball player. This past spring, she helped lead Montverde Academy to a 15-2 record. The team captured its third FHSAA district championship in four years and advanced to the championship round of the regional tournament.

Congratulations to Mirea on her commitment to Eastern Illinois University! We are so proud of her!
