Local Teen Battling Cancer Celebrates 15th Birthday

Local teenager and student at Trinity Catholic High School, Haley Williams, recently celebrated her 15th birthday. Normally, this wouldn’t be news worthy, but Haley has a unique story. She has battling cancer for a last few years, but she has taken the battle head-on and fought hard. If all goes well, she will be ringing the bell next March. Her mother, Lena Williams, provided a recent update on her progress.

“Mom is a little emotional today and filled with gratitude as I look at where we were just a year ago, having a drive-by birthday parade,” Lena says. “We are going through what they call the maintenance cycle of her treatment, and Haley is still on chemo daily at home with infusions every other week, but we are so excited with how well she is doing.”

“Don’t get me wrong, maintenance has thrown us some curveballs, like every part of her treatment,” Lena continued. “As her medical team always says… it’s Haley, and she does everything her own way. Haley will get to ring that bell in March, and we are just counting down the days. She is getting back to some teenage normalcy and is so excited to be on the cheer team at Trinity Catholic High School and made the dance team again. She plans to do her solo and is excited to pour her heart into that. Prayers are so appreciated. God is working through Haley in ways that I cannot even explain. I don’t know if I will ever understand why her, but seeing God’s plan unfold is beautiful. By the way, watch out… she has her learner’s permit! We are forever grateful for you all and for being with us. She is and will forever be the strongest girl I know, and I am so honored to be her mom.”

(Haley is not only fighting cancer but recently got her learners permit.)

Please join us in continuing to pray for Haley. We are so happy to hear about her progress and pray that she will ring that bell in March! Keep up the fight, Haley!
