Leesburg Crowns New Royalty at Annual Pageant

The Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program has crowned its newest representatives, continuing a tradition of excellence, education and community service.
This year’s winners are:
-
Tiny Miss Leesburg – Amzie Wilburth
-
Little Miss Leesburg – Zuri Spurlock
-
Junior Miss Leesburg – Allison Waddell
-
Teen Miss Leesburg – Ryleigh Mallory
-
Miss Leesburg – Claire Carlton
The program, held annually at Leesburg High School, is both a fundraiser and a vital community initiative. Since becoming a scholarship program in 1997, the nonprofit has awarded more than $228,000 in scholarships to local students. Its mission is to encourage young women to become role models through education, volunteer service, and leadership.
Throughout the coming year, the five winners will represent Leesburg at community events and service projects. From the Share Your Christmas Food Drive and school supply collections, to volunteering at nursing homes and the beloved “Adopt a Grandparent” program at Vista Lake Center, the Miss Leesburg titleholders stay busy giving back.
“Our overall goal is to provide scholarships each year to young ladies of our area,” the program notes. This year, Miss Leesburg will receive a $5,000 college scholarship, with additional awards going to runners-up and winners across the age divisions. In total, more than $15,000 in scholarships will be distributed, thanks to community donations, fundraisers, and support from organizations including the OBG Lions Club and the Randy Jones Sr. Memorial Scholarship.
The Miss Leesburg Scholarship Program is recognized by the City of Leesburg, the Leesburg Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Lake County School Board as an important part of youth development and continuing education. Founded 38 years ago by Linda Watts, the program continues to link young women with opportunities for service, confidence-building, and higher education.
Congratulations again to this year’s winners—Amzie, Zuri, Allison, Ryleigh, and Claire—who will spend the next year proudly representing Leesburg while making a lasting difference in their community.
