Lake County Family Seeks Help as Young Mom Faces Second Cancer Battle

A Lake County family is asking for community support as Loryn, a young mother of two and local Lake County animal control worker, fights her second battle with cancer.
Loryn, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma, is now in need of a stem cell transplant. She and her husband, Justin, who serves as a sheriff’s deputy in Lake County, are navigating the emotional and financial strain of aggressive treatment while raising their two young sons.

Loryn and Justin stand with their two sons.
A GoFundMe campaign launched this week by a family friend describes Loryn as someone who has “dedicated herself to helping animals” through her work with Lake County Animal Control. It also highlights the family’s long-standing commitment to public service.

(Loryn “right” is undergoing her second battle with cancer.)
“This is Loryn’s second battle with cancer, and the road ahead is tough, physically, emotionally, and financially,” the organizer says. “They’ve given so much to others; now it’s our turn to give back.”
Funds raised will help cover the cost of treatment, travel, and daily expenses as the family focuses on Loryn’s care and recovery. The campaign emphasizes that “every donation, big or small” makes a difference.
Supporters can donate through the GoFundMe page, which has already begun drawing attention from local residents and fellow first responders.
