Round Lake Charter school has announced the successful launch of their inaugural Middle School golf program. This marks the first time students in grades 6–8 have had the opportunity to participate in organized golf as part of the programs athletic offerings.

Designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the game, the program focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, and building a lifelong appreciation for golf. The first-year golf program welcomed both beginners and students with prior experience.

Over 40 students showed interest this first season, many picking up a golf club for the very first time. “The enthusiasm was contagious, and students showed noticeable improvement in both skill and confidence as the season progressed,” RLC says in a statement. “Several participants expressed interest in continuing with the sport, with some setting goals to play competitively at the high school level in the future.”

The success of this first-year program lays the foundation for future seasons. “Our goal is to expand opportunities for inter-school play, develop a more structured team format, and continue growing interest in the sport at the middle school level. Coaches Duzant and Kolva were grateful that they work for a school that allows for student interest to be developed in a healthy way,” the school says.
