Community Mourns the Loss of SkateWorld Owner Scott Christley

The Leesburg and surrounding community is mourning the sudden passing of Scott Christley, longtime owner of SkateWorld in Leesburg and a familiar face to generations of local families.
News of his death was shared by his family this morning in a social-media post that described him as a devoted husband, father and leader whose kindness and strength touched countless lives.
“He was the perfect example of a leader—strong, kind, and steady—and his spirit will forever be with me,” his daughter wrote. “The love my dad showed my momma gave me a true vision of what ‘til death do us part’ really means.”

SkateWorld in Leesburg has been a community staple for decades. They announced it will be closed Thursday as family and staff take time to grieve and honor Scott’s memory.
Under his ownership, SkateWorld became more than just a rink. It was a gathering place for families, youth groups and birthday celebrations, hosting everything from school nights to charity events. Many locals credit Scott for maintaining a safe, family-friendly atmosphere that gave kids a place to have fun and build friendships.

Friends remembered him as approachable and generous, often greeting visitors with a smile and making everyone who walked through the doors feel at home.
“We have lost a great friend and classmate, Scott Christley,” a post read in the Leesburg Class of 1979. “His family provides so much fun for many Leesburg people with Skate World Leesburg. Pray for his family.”

Scott’s passing has left a void in Leesburg’s small-business community, where he was admired for his dedication to family and faith as much as his commitment to his business.
His family said they are surrounded by loved ones as they navigate this heartbreaking loss and asked for patience and prayers in the days ahead.

“Sometimes we question why,” the post read. “And sometimes the Lord whispers, ‘It’s not my plan.’ We’re holding onto the peace of knowing he is now resting with the Lord.”
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
