Lisa & Michael Huey

Answering God’s call to uplift youth and transform their community.

Priorities matter.

For Michael and Lisa Huey, God comes first, followed by one another. After that, everything else falls in place.

The Hueys are dedicated to strengthening families, uplifting their community and committed to making a difference.

Michael grew up in Ohio and was a four-year letterman in track and field at Ohio State University.

He’s worked at the top of the fitness industry almost three decades as a personal trainer of high school, college and professional athletes in multiple sports. He worked with Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Sumter County and became an ordained minister in 2019. In June 2025, Michael became a master trainer at Genesis Health Clubs in Brownwood and received his master’s in theology.

Lisa hails from Chicago and works as an RN in interventional radiology at UF Health in Leesburg. She’s also an entrepreneur, certified Christian life coach and author who just published Healed, Whole and Holy: A 31-day Devotional Journey of Truth, Identity, and Transformation.

Michael and Lisa met at a Clearwater church in 2007 and married in 2009. They’ve lived in Sumterville since 2023. They don’t have children of their own, but they happily answered the call to mentor youth in their community.

The Hueys’ non-profit Faith in Action Global Ministries works with school sports teams at South Sumter and Wildwood high schools and the Sumter County community. They also serve as voluntary chaplains and Michael leads chapel for the sports teams at both schools.

“Our ministry tagline is ‘Local action for global impact,” Lisa says. “We believe we can make a difference in the community with these kids, and then they can truly change the world. We consider it a ‘God wink’ that Wildwood High School is on Huey Street.”

They’ve partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to build and deliver beds to kids in Sumter County. The plan is to build 50 to 75 beds at the December 6 event, with a goal of making sure no kid goes without a bed in Sumter County.

Friends describe the Hueys as “a power couple for Jesus” and that’s their greatest honor.

“Our marriage is strong because we’re unified in our vision and mission,” Michael says. “It’s built on faith and fueled by purpose. We’re closing in on our 60s but feel like we’re in our 40s. We want to leave a legacy of love, hope and transformation for generations to come.”
