40 Under 40: Kacy Wolfe

What drives me: Providing meaningful experiences for my students and opening doors that help them unlock their full potential.
My legacy: A belief that education opens doors and that every child deserves someone who sees their potential.
Fun fact: I’m a marathon runner and proud product of Lake County Public Schools. I began my career at the same school I attended as a child.
Leesburg Elementary School Principal Kacy Wolfe leads with the same warmth and determination that shaped her own childhood in Lake County.
A proud product of the district, she attended Lake County Public Schools from kindergarten through high school and in a full-circle moment, began her teaching career at the same campus she once called home.
“It’s such an honor to serve the community that helped shape who I am,” Kacy says. “Every day I walk those halls, I’m reminded of the teachers who believed in me. Now I get to pay that forward.”
Being the first in her family to graduate from college changed the course of her life. She says crossing that stage didn’t just open doors, it created a new legacy for her children and generations to come.
The experience deepened her belief that education has the power to transform lives and is why she works to help every student see their potential.
Kacy believes literacy is at the heart of opportunity.
“Teaching one person to read can create a ripple that lasts for generations,” she says. “When one person learns, grows and gives back, the entire community rises.”
Leading through change has tested her in the best ways. She’s learned that authentic leadership requires vulnerability, consistency and heart. Those lessons helped her become a leader who listens deeply and leads with courage and compassion.
What matters most to Kacy isn’t titles or achievements, but how people feel after working with her.
“I want to be known for how I made people feel seen, valued and loved,” she says. “If my students and staff walk away feeling supported and inspired to keep growing, then I’ve done my job.”
