Former Eustis High School baseball standout Marcus Lemon has been named the new head coach of the Tavares High School baseball program, bringing professional playing experience, local roots and years of player development back to Lake County baseball.

Marcus was selected by the Texas Rangers in the fourth round of the 2006 MLB Draft after building a standout baseball career at Eustis High School and competing with USA Baseball on the national stage. He went on to play 12 professional seasons in the Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Atlanta Braves organizations while also competing internationally in the Australian Baseball League.

Baseball has long been part of the Lemon family legacy in Lake County.

Marcus is the son of former MLB All-Star Chet Lemon, who helped build a strong local baseball presence through coaching and youth development programs in Eustis. Marcus’ parents also founded The Big House in Tavares, one of Lake County’s premier indoor sports and training facilities supporting youth athletics, tournaments and baseball and softball development throughout Central Florida.

After retiring from professional baseball, Marcus stayed close to the game by coaching alongside his father with the youth program Chet Lemon’s Juice while also building his own organization, Marcus Lemon Baseball.

The program has become well known throughout Central Florida for youth instruction, travel baseball and mentorship while helping young athletes improve their skills, fundamentals and overall development both on and off the field.

Outside of baseball, Marcus earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Full Sail University, channeling his creativity into another passion.

Marcus Lemon Baseball stands as a premier destination for athletes seeking high-level coaching and advanced training facilities. His mission is to instill integrity, teamwork and excellence in athletes of all ages and skill levels while helping them grow both on and off the field.

Marcus Lemon Baseball’s 13U Fall Tryouts will be held Wednesday, May 27 at 6pm at The Big House in Tavares. For more information, visit marcuslemonbaseball.com.
