Former Winn-Dixie Reopens as ALDI in Eustis

A line of shoppers formed Thursday morning as ALDI opened its newest Eustis store, the latest former Winn-Dixie in the area to be converted as part of the grocery chain’s major expansion across the Southeast.

The new store at 1955 N State Road 19 opened Aug. 20 inside the former Winn-Dixie location. Early shoppers had an extra incentive to arrive before the doors opened as the first 200 customers received a Golden Ticket with a chance to win up to $100, a bag filled with ALDI products and a reusable shopping tote while supplies lasted.

The Eustis opening is part of a much larger conversion effort following ALDI’s 2024 acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, the former parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket. ALDI says it plans to convert more than 200 former Southeastern Grocers locations by the end of 2027, including close to 80 conversions across the Southeast this year. The Eustis conversion was first previewed by Lake & Sumter Style in late 2025.

The State Road 19 store is the latest of those remodels to open locally, and more are on the way. The former Winn-Dixie location in Tavares is already undergoing its conversion to ALDI, with an opening expected once renovations are complete.

The new Eustis location also gives the city a second ALDI, joining the existing store on U.S. 441.

The store is located at 1955 N State Road 19, Eustis, and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
