Tavares Volleyball Off To Hot Start Behind Senior Chloe Looper
The Tavares High School volleyball team is off to a strong start in the 2026 season, and senior Chloe Looper has been a major reason why.
The Lady Bulldogs are 2-0. Through two matches, Chloe has recorded 27 kills. She also leads the team with seven aces and has added 22 assists.
Looper is no stranger to success. She is one of the area’s top student-athletes with a 4.2 GPA, and she hopes that success rubs off on other students.
“I always put schoolwork first, whether it means using lunch, bus rides or even time at work to get it done,” Chloe says. “I like to knock out the hard stuff early so I have time to relax and handle other things later in the day.”
She hopes her approach has a profound impact on those around her and said the rewards of a strong GPA rank among the best parts of the experience.
“One of the most rewarding parts of being at Tavares High is getting to support younger students,” Chloe says. “I try to be a positive role model and make sure they feel welcome and encouraged. I want to help them succeed both socially and academically, and I’m always looking for ways to be a friendly, reliable resource.”
Away from the court, Chloe is involved in the teaching academy at Tavares High. She credits her sister with helping her see the joys of teaching.
“My sister Destiny was in the Teaching Academy, and her stories really inspired me,” Chloe says. “I want to give kids the same love and support she talked about. It means a lot to help them smile and feel happy every day.”
Chloe has not carried the work load alone this season.
Sophomore Laniya Small ranks second on the team in kills behind Chloe. Sophomore Madelyn Creamer has also been effective, recording 29 digs so far this season to keep rallies alive.
Tavares will look to extend its hot start this week when it hosts Belleview tonight and travels to South Sumter on Thursday.
Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
