For Lena Williams, 45, real estate has always been about more than buying and selling property. It is about earning the kind of confidence that brings clients back years later and inspires them to send their friends and family her way.

Lena, of Morris Realty, has worked as a real estate agent for 26 years. The repeat clients and referrals she receives today reflect the relationships she has developed throughout her career.

“Building that kind of trust over all these years means everything to me,” Lena says.

Born and raised in the area, Lena’s connection to Lake County extends well beyond her profession. She has served on boards and worked with organizations including the Boys & Girls Club, the Chamber and the Partnership.

“I was born and raised here and giving back to this community has always been so important to me because I truly love where I came from,” she says.

Lena considers building a lasting career an important professional achievement, but her greatest source of pride is her family. She has balanced the demands of her business and community involvement with raising her children, including supporting her youngest daughter, Haley, through a cancer diagnosis.

“Doing both at once was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, and I feel very blessed I found a way through it,” Lena says.

The experience strengthened the influence her family has had on her life and leadership. Lena credits Haley with teaching her about strength and her daughter Hannah with showing maturity beyond her years while helping hold the family together. Her husband, Craig, has remained a steady source of support.

“Work matters, but family is everything,” Lena says. “They’re the reason I keep going.”

Her advice to future professionals and community leaders reflects the principles that have guided her career, relationships and community service.

She also encourages young professionals to keep their careers in perspective, especially during stressful seasons, and to make time to enjoy their lives along the way.

“Work hard, always show integrity and be loyal,” Lena says. “Be honest, and love fiercely in your career and in your life.
