South Lake Names Adel Ramirez Girls Soccer Coach
South Lake High School has appointed Adel Ramirez as the new head coach of the Lady Eagles girls soccer team, school officials announced welcoming him “to the nest.”
Coach Ramirez is a lifelong Lake County resident. He steps into the role with deep ties to our community and more than 25 years of experience in education, athletic administration and community leadership.
Coach Ramirez is a University of Central Florida graduate. He currently teaches seventh-grade civics and serves as athletic director at Cecil E. Gray Middle School. There, he has directed the soccer program for more than a decade. He’s helped build a foundation of consistent involvement with young athletes in the county.
His appointment also brings continuity to South Lake’s soccer programs. Ramirez previously served as an assistant varsity coach for the South Lake High School boys soccer team and helped coach the boys team alongside coach Josh Castleman to one of the best seasons in South Lake High history. They also made an appearance in the FHSAA Regional Championship earlier this year.
Coach Ramirez has a proven track record of success that he will now carry over to the girls’ side. The move positions him to leverage familiarity with the school’s facilities, culture and athletes while shifting focus to the Lady Eagles.
The South Lake High girls soccer team is coming off a 3-14-1 record last year. This year marks 11 years since the last South Lake High girls soccer team had a winning record. The 2015-16 team finished 9-6-2. It was the last time South Lake had a winning record and Coach Ramirez hopes to change that for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Kyle Coppola was born in Newton, Massachusetts and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Communications from Curry College in 2016. After traveling to Florida on a family vacation, he decided he could not get enough of the warm weather and made the move from snowy Massachusetts to central Florida 8 years ago.
For the last decade Kyle has gained valuable experience in social media content creation, marketing and sales, writing, video production, sports announcing and even broadcasting for local radio stations, such as FM 102.9 in The Villages and FM 91.5 in Massachusetts. Every year he volunteers at The Villages Charter High School as a play-by-play sports announcer for the football games as well as a public address announcer for the basketball games, including the annual Battle at The Villages Tournament.
Outside the office Kyle is a husband and father to two beautiful girls along with their cat. In his spare time he likes to spend time with his family, travel, play golf and swim. He is also a huge sports junkie and even bigger motorsports fan and loves to attend racing events when he can.
