Clermont’s Kalos Services Named 2026 Large Contractor of the Year

A Clermont company has earned national recognition for its work in the heating and air conditioning industry.

Kalos Services, a family-owned and operated company founded in Clermont in 2005, was recently named the 2026 Large Contractor of the Year by National Comfort Institute (NCI) during the organization’s 2026 annual conference, the High-Performance HVAC Summit, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in High-Performance HVAC contracting, quality workmanship and dedication to customer service.

Companies in the Large Contractor category achieve annual sales exceeding $6 million. NCI’s other two categories are Small, for companies with sales under $2 million annually, and Medium, for those with sales between $2 million and $6 million.

NCI President and CEO Dominick Guarino, who presented the award to Bryan Orr, says Kalos has made it its business to train and certify its technicians to be experts in both commercial and residential comfort systems. He told an audience of nearly 250 conference attendees that Kalos is one of the most unique organizations he has encountered over the past 40 years.

“Besides doing high-quality work that is rooted in testing and verification, what makes this company and its co-founder unique is an interest in growing people, both inside and outside the organization,” Guarino says. “Over the past several years, they created an online training school open to all with most of its content available at no cost.”

“In addition,” Guarino says, “they created an annual event like this Summit, where hundreds of people from the HVAC and Home Performance Industry gather to learn and network. And recently they started a non-profit organization called GRIT, whose mission is to reignite curiosity in the skilled trades and bridge the labor shortage by empowering the next generation with hands-on learning.”

NCI presented Bryan Orr and his wife, Leilani, with the award for these and many other reasons.

Winning companies must be implementing, or have completed, High-Performance HVAC testing as prescribed by NCI; have a high-performance business culture in place or be in the process of establishing one; have a strong service department and sell and maintain service agreements; focus on renovating HVAC duct systems as well as replacing equipment; and make training an integral part of the company culture.

NCI says it has trained and certified more than 35,000 industry professionals in areas including system diagnostics and design, indoor air quality, air balancing, carbon monoxide analysis and combustion efficiency.
