Early Voting Begins in Lake and Sumter Counties

Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election is underway in Lake County and Sumter County.
Lake County opened its 12 early voting locations Monday, Oct. 19. Voting continues daily through Saturday, Oct. 31, 10am–6pm.

Sumter County will offer early voting at seven locations Oct. 24–31, also 10am–6pm.
Registered voters may cast ballots at any early voting location in their county, regardless of their assigned Election Day precinct. Voters must present a current, valid photo ID with a signature.

Voting by mail remains available. The deadline to request a mail ballot is 5pm Thursday, Oct. 22. Requests can be made through the county supervisor of elections in Lake or Sumter. Under a 2023 state law, mail ballot requests expire after each general election, so voters who last requested one before 2025 must submit a new request.

Completed ballots must be received by the elections office by 7pm on Election Day. A postmark does not count. Lake County voters may also drop off mail ballots at any early voting site during operating hours.
Voters can check the status of their mail ballot online. Those who received a mail ballot but prefer to vote in person may do so, but they should bring the ballot with them to surrender at the polls.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open 7am–7pm. Unlike early voting, voters must go to their assigned precinct.
