From the Publisher: Celebrating Everyday People Making an Extraordinary Difference

The Extraordinary in the Ordinary
Every November, one of my favorite issues of Style comes to life—our Extraordinary People issue. It’s an opportunity to recognize individuals who make a difference in our communities, often without ever realizing just how remarkable they truly are.
I’ve always believed that being extraordinary doesn’t necessarily mean doing extraordinary things. Sometimes, it’s simply doing ordinary things exceptionally well.
Think about that for a moment.
It’s the teacher who doesn’t just teach but inspires. The business owner who treats every customer like family. The volunteer who gives countless hours without expecting anything in return. The neighbor who shows up when someone needs a helping hand. The parent who quietly makes sacrifices every day to give their children a better life.
These may seem like ordinary acts, but they become something truly special when they’re done with extraordinary love, dedication and purpose.

I think sometimes we think that greatness has to be measured by grand accomplishments, public recognition or the size of our success. But I’ve come to realize that some of the most extraordinary people simply choose to do the right thing, give their very best and make life a little better for someone else.
And that’s what I love most about this issue.
You’ll meet individuals whose stories remind us that greatness comes in many forms. Some have overcome tremendous obstacles. Others have dedicated their lives to serving others. And some simply turned their everyday passions into something that has made a lasting impact.
What they all share is a willingness to go beyond what’s expected.
As we enter this season of gratitude, I hope their stories inspire you to recognize the extraordinary people in your own life. Better yet, I hope they remind you of the extraordinary difference you can make in someone else’s.
You don’t have to do something big to change the world. You can make a difference by doing the little things exceptionally well.
Until next month,

Kendra
