Ghevin Olmstead

Greatest accomplishments: I am most proud of getting into LSSC as a dual-enrolled student because the PERT (Postsecondary Education Readiness Test) is not easy. However, getting my blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu was a great feeling too. Being class president at Montverde and homecoming court comes in very close.

What being a military kid taught me: It has taught me a lot about myself, from being born in another country to moving schools, having to adapt to new environments and having my parents get deployed for months. It has taught me how to be more resilient and social.

My biggest challenge: Trying to balance everything that goes on in my life and taking my grades more seriously. After I started writing down my activities and to-do lists, I also created a “not-to-do” list to remind myself not to procrastinate, not to write out answers and not to study for too long.

Someone I look up to: My mom has had the biggest influence on me because without her, I would be nowhere near where I am today.

Future goals: Academically, I want to continue challenging myself, maintain all A’s and prepare for college. Personally, I want to become a better family member, improve my leadership skills and get my private pilot’s license before I go to college.

In my free time: I like to watch TV, especially The Flash and anime. I also like to do things with my friends and family like go to theme parks, ice skating, springs, camping and horseback riding.

Career goal: I want to become a commercial pilot. My whole life, I’ve loved traveling and I like driving unique machines, so now I’m obsessed with becoming an airline pilot.

My best advice: If you don’t know what you want to be in life, then do more things, join more clubs, talk to more people and find what makes you happy.
