East Ridge Middle Flag Football Wins Back-to-Back Championships

The East Ridge Middle School Spartans capped off another undefeated flag football season Monday night, defeating the Eustis Middle School Mustangs 32-13 to claim their second consecutive championship and extend their winning streak to 24 games.
After going undefeated during their 2025 championship run, the Spartans finished 12-0 in 2026, bringing their combined record to 24-0 over two seasons.

East Ridge scored 382 points while allowing 81. The team recorded four shutouts: 21-0 and 38-0 wins over Windy Hill Middle, a 32-0 win over Gray Middle and a 30-0 win over Imagine Charter. The Spartans also beat Lake Pointe Academy 60-23, Aurelia M. Cole Academy 45-6 and Minneola Charter 30-12.

Quarterback Jackson Everett threw 41 touchdown passes this season, including the semifinal and championship games.
The Spartans entered the playoffs undefeated, beat Carver Middle 31-15 in the semifinals and then defeated Eustis Middle for the title.

Coaches Nino and Joe Gargano credit the players’ teamwork, communication, humility and no-quit mentality, Joe Gargano says. The players leave their egos at home, hold one another accountable and put the team before themselves, he says.
The coaches helped foster that culture, Joe Gargano says, “but the accomplishment belongs to the kids who put in the work and delivered when it mattered most.”
With back-to-back undefeated seasons, the Spartans are 24-0 over the past two years.
