Wildwood Middle High Girls Basketball Team Dominates MDCA 47-15
The Lady Wildcats have had a tremendous start to the 2023 girls’ basketball season. Last night they proved why they are one of the most dominant teams in Class 1A. The Lady Wildcats coached by Vincent Brown are always State Champion contenders.
Junior #10 Trinidy Harris has had an amazing beginning of the season. She is averaging 19.5 points per game. Harris has 117 points this season which leads the team. She is especially good in transitions down the court. She is fast, agile and makes the most of her opportunities. She is second on the team in total assists and leads the team in offensive rebounds with 28 in just 7 games played.
Harris gets plenty of help from her teammates including senior #14 Essiance Jasper. She is second on the team in points per game with 12. She also leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. Jasper is second on the team in total points with 72 points through just seven games. Both Harris and Jasper have great team chemistry as do most of the Wildwood roster.
One player in particular is #1 Zoey Brown. She is one of the most exciting up and coming athletes that Wildwood Middle High School has on the roster. Brown is only a middle school student in 8th grade but she has made a massive impact this year. She averages 8.5 points per game but she is selfless. She leads the team in total assists with 36 total. This is one player to watch as the season moves on. Junior #24 Alexia McCray and sophomore #10 Narjhani Harris also lead the offense for the lady Wildcats.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora Christian Academy currently sits at 4-4 this season. The girls struggled offensively to get anything going against a powerful Wildwood team. The Lady Bulldogs sit at 4-4 and while they lost big to Wildwood, they are winning the games they should in their district.
Head coach Perry Ptruccelli is doing what he can to get the most out of his girls this season. #1 Natalie Doan has been one of the highlights this year for MDCA. She plays guard and has actually had some great games this season. While this was not MDCA’s strongest performance the Bulldogs will need to rely on her down the stretch.
Freshman #11 Sapphira Thomson-Woods will also be a player that MDCA looks to build upon the next few years.
Overall, though Wildwood Middle High School looks really good this season. There is still plenty to work on but we have a good feeling about their chances to make another run in the FHSAA Playoffs in 2024.
