Student Athlete Of The Week: Jermarien Williams Leesburg High
Leesburg, Fla. – In the spotlight this week is #1 Jermarien Williams a towering 6’8″ senior who dominates the court and plays forward for the Leesburg Yellow Jackets.
Williams, a seasoned contributor to the Yellow Jackets’ success over the past few seasons, has elevated his game to new heights this year, leaving an indelible mark on the court. Known for his remarkable impact whenever he steps on the floor, Williams is currently averaging an impressive 12 points per game, showcasing his versatility with 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 blocks, and 4 assists this season.
The senior standout’s athleticism extends beyond the statistics, with a highlight reel featuring powerful dunks that have captivated fans this year. Williams’ ability to excel both inside the paint and beyond the arc was recently on display when he sank two three-pointers in a matchup against South Lake.
Bolstering the Yellow Jackets’ promising start to the season, currently standing at 6-1, Williams is not alone in making waves. Teammates Jalen Brown, Evan James, and Kanye Gaines have also contributed significantly, with James and Gaines bringing the momentum from an exceptional football season for Leesburg High School.
Drawing comparisons to successful teams from the late 2010s that made memorable State Championship runs, this cohesive group of men is making a strong case for a remarkable season. Though there is a long road ahead, the talent on the Leesburg roster is undeniable.
While official statistics may not be readily available on platforms like MaxPreps, glimpses of Williams’ stellar play are accessible through highlights and videos on platforms like Hudl. The senior’s prowess in transition has been really fun to watch this year, his continued development under head coach Sean Campbell has been notable and he looks better than he ever has.
Although the season is still unfolding, the Leesburg community is already buzzing with excitement, with what this year could potentially bring. There is no telling how far this team could go but one thing is for certain, they have a strong group of young men that want to win. We have seen groups like that go on to do great things in the past at Leesburg High. The question is how far this team can go. For Williams, as his skills continue to shine, the hope is that college coaches will take notice of this rising star and the incredible promise he brings to the game.
