Eustis High School’s Alana Seward Scores Her 1,000th Career Basketball Point
Congratulations to Eustis Girls Varsity Basketball player Alana Seward who scored her 1,000th point! Seward has been a star on the Eustis basketball team for the past few years and her contributions to the program go far beyond her time spent on the basketball court. But this night belonged all to her as Eustis celebrated her greatness in a ceremony.
Seward was surrounded by friends, family and teammates. The senior basketball star is committed to Husson University in Maine. Seward is having an incredible senior year. She leads the team in total points scored with 156 so far through just 8 games. She is averaging just under 20 points per game.
One of the things we love about the way that Seward plays the game of basketball is that for how much she scores, she is unselfish. She leads the team in total assists with 43 and she makes players around her better. As one of only two seniors on the varsity squad this season, Eustis is a young program and many of these girls look up to Seward and her fellow teammate Zoe Evans for leadership.
Her leadership extends beyond the court as Alana is actively involved in the Eustis High School Black Student Union, which provides space for black students to discuss pressing societal issues. She also participates in the African American Heritage Parade in Eustis every February.
Alana is also involved in the annual Silhouettes of Criterion Cotillion Ball, an event dedicated to guiding young girls into womanhood and raising scholarships for those in need. The 25th annual Cotillion ball in 2024 will be a momentous occasion for Seward, who will make her debut in the Debutante Court.
Alana has her sights set on greatness. Her parents instilled that in her at a young age. “Never give up and don’t get discouraged by the opportunity’s others receive. It’s all on God’s timing.” says Alana.
Eustis has 4 home games remaining in the regular season and we are so happy that Alana was able to be honored for scoring her 1,000th point. She joins an elite number of student athletes to accomplish that feat in Lake County.
Congratulation to Alana Seward and all her teammates , coaches, friends and family members for helping her achieve this goal. We look forward to the remainder of the season. Go Panthers!
