Congratulations to Leesburg Head basketball coach of both the girls and boys teams, who won his 200th game last night in a 65-25 blowout win against Vanguard. Perhaps it was meant to be a 40-point victory, as that sums up the dominance of Coach Campbell this season.

Campbell took on the role as the Lady Jackets’ head coach with very little time to prepare at the beginning of the season. That role has been pivotal as Leesburg has found themselves 21-1 and on a 10-game winning streak dating back to December 20th of 2023.

Campbell has had many victories over the years. This evening was special. He got to not only celebrate with his daughter Macey Campbell, who is a senior on the basketball team, but he was surrounded by so much love from the players who really become part of his extended family.

After the game was over, Leesburg High School honored Coach Campbell with photos, a signed jersey, balloons, and plenty of love. Athletic Director Spencer Hey was in attendance and was beaming with pride at how far Coach Campbell and Leesburg High School have come in the past decade.

From athletics to academics, Leesburg High School has come a long way. This school has been through a lot in its history, and you can feel that when walking on campus. Tonight the school celebrated another chapter in its long history, celebrating a man who has meant so much to the Leesburg community on and off the court.

D’mani Nettles, a former player for Sean Campbell who is now an assistant coach of the girls and boys teams, was also there. “Sean Campbell is like a father to me. He is a guiding light for so many who have come through this program. There is an immense sense of pride playing and coaching alongside him,” says Coach Nettles.

For Sean Campbell, while the 200th victory was a great achievement, he continues to look toward the future. There is unfinished business with both of his teams the favorites to win their respective districts this season.

You can’t help but appreciate everything that Coach Campbell has brought to Leesburg over the years. Two state championships, countless victories, Division 1 NCAA college athletes, an NBA Star, and a family atmosphere that the community loves.

As far as the game goes, Aniya and Ariyana Hester had no trouble with Vanguard. Saige McCloud continued her dominant year, and Leesburg will next face Lecanto in the district final on Friday evening.
