Mount Dora’s Addison Ganus Carries Mount Dora Softball Past Lake Minneola 4-1 FINAL

What a performance Addison Ganus put in the other night! The sophomore pitcher struck out 11 batters as the right-handed pitcher led the Lady Hurricanes past Lake Minneola 4-1. The win was a big momentum boost for Mount Dora, which had been in a slump recently, losing their last 3 out of 4 games against Tavares, The Villages, and South Lake.

Ganus allowed two hits and one run over seven innings of work while walking four batters. The Lady Canes were the first to get on the board in the third when Lacey Jones singled, scoring one run. Ganus leads the Hurricanes with 23 strikeouts and has only surrendered 8 earned runs all year.

Lake Minneola would tie the game 1-1 in the top of the 4th after a home run, but that is as close as Lake Minneola would get. Mount Dora would jump back to the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after Kaleigh Casey doubled, and Aspen Thompson singled, each scoring one run.

Carly Durden went 2 for 3 at the plate to lead Mount Dora in hits. Casey Durden, Jones, and Thompson each drove in one run for Mount Dora High. The Lady Canes took the victory 4-1 and improve to 5-6 on the season. Keep in mind this team is very young. We look forward to seeing how this team continues to evolve. They have some tough District games upcoming with Umatilla and Windermere Prep.

Next up for Mount Dora High School will be a game against South Lake on Monday. South Lake comes in at 8-4 on the season. They have been impressive and even beat Mount Dora 17-5 the last time they played. Look for Mount Dora to keep it much closer on Monday.
