Jared Carter, a recent graduate of Beacon College, has been selected for the New South Athletic Conference team to play in the Copa Sul-Americana de Basquete (South American Basketball Cup) Tournament in Brazil.

Led by defending NSAC champion coach Vando Becheli and assisted by Atlantis University head coach Francisco Hernandez, 10 of the NSAC’s finest will suit up for a series of games against some of Brazil’s top pro teams, followed by the South American Cup (SULA 25) tournament.

Jared, Beacon’s starting shooting guard, capped off an outstanding 2024–25 campaign by leading the United States Collegiate Athletic Association in scoring, averaging 21.9 points per game. He totaled 328 points on the season, shooting an impressive 48.6% from beyond the arc and 90.7% from the free-throw line.

From Sparta, Tennessee, Jared graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management from Beacon College in May.

“The Beacon Blazers basketball program has grown tremendously in the last few years in joining the USCAA and NSAC. It’s exciting to have Jared be recognized with this honor of competing in the international tournament for the NSCA,” Coach Pat Burke says. “There’s no greater thrill than watching our student athletes achieve something they’ve worked so hard for, and this is just the beginning!”

The team will assemble early next week in Brazil to begin the gauntlet run with games planned for most every day through the tournament championship on July 27. The games will be live streamed through the NSAC social media channels.
