Beacon College will host a reception and awards for its Annual Juried Student Exhibition on Thursday, March 20, at 4 p.m. at the Kristin Michelle Mason Art Gallery.
The exhibit features paintings, drawings, and sculpture from students of various majors.
“Students who had their work selected for the exhibition have demonstrated an in-depth knowledge and understanding of their chosen medium along with the drive and determination to put in the time needed to complete it,” said Dustin Boise, professor of studio art.
Claire Simpson, assistant director of the Leesburg Center for the Arts, will serve as the student exhibitions official juror. Simpson is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus in human connections with the Earth through simulated reality. She employs a variety of mediums including earth pigments, drawing, ceramics, photography, and video. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, and she has been awarded a residency at Anderson Ranch. She has exhibited in group exhibitions at TAXI AIR, the Phillip J. Steele Gallery, The Dairy Arts Center, and Frist Art Museum among other venues. Her work has also been featured with the Sierra Club environmental organization.
The Annual Juried Student Exhibition is open to the public weekdays from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The free opening reception at the gallery will be on March 20 from 4 – 6 p.m.
