CEO Levonda Goodson perceives it not merely as a facility, but as a lifeline and is concerned about the scarcity of accessible healthcare in a region labeled a medical desert, advocating for universal access to high-quality medical services.

Established in 2018, the center honors a promise to Estella, Carolyn Adams’s grandmother, by creating a wellness hub for the underserved. Carolyn, along with her late husband Arthur and Dr. Pamela Lewin, co-founded the center. 

Levonda understands the necessity for holistic healthcare and strives to establish a medical home in collaboration with external partners. With 23 years of experience in the healthcare sector, Levonda sees this endeavor as a “calling” to instill hope to those in need. She also underscores the importance of attentive listening and the nurturing atmosphere fostered by the center. 

Under Levonda’s stewardship, the Estella Byrd Whitman Community Health Center remains dedicated to providing compassion and healing to its community.
