City of Tavares to Host Lake County Waterways Cleanup

Help keep the Lake County shorelines clean during the Lake County Waterways Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20 from 8am – 11am. This is a community effort to remove trash and debris from local waterways. This volunteer effort will happen at the Wooton Park West Boat Ramp, 400 South, Sinclair Avenue in Tavares.
Volunteering is easy. Those with boats will help clean the lakes and canals, while others on foot will collect litter at boat ramps and along walkable shorelines.
Recommended supplies:
-
3- or 5-gallon buckets
-
Reusable gloves
-
Trash pickup device
-
Reusable water bottles
-
Comfortable shoes, a hat and sunscreen
Additional Tavares cleanup locations include:
-
Tavares Recreation Park, 2030 W. Burleigh Blvd.
-
Aesop’s Park, 501 E. Caroline St.
Can’t join on Saturday? You can still make a difference year-round. Trash in neighborhoods often ends up in local waterways, so cleaning streets and sidewalks also helps protect our lakes.
